Shanette Britton of Oxon Hill, Maryland, intends to make good use of items she won in the USA’s recent Find Your Trail Giveaway. The prize package featured binoculars from Steiner, a Tenzing daypack, a 40-quart Orca cooler, a walking stick, plus gift certificates from Thorogood and Carhartt.
Britton, a Safeway food clerk and member of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400, and her husband Michael are avid hikers who are on constant lookout for new places to explore—especially if there’s a scenic waterfall at the end of the trail.
“There are places in Delaware where we like to hike, but we don’t have a regular spot,” she said. “When we visit a place or go on vacation, we always look online for places that offer an opportunity to go hiking or fishing.”
She found out about the Find Your Trail Giveaway through her union’s email newsletter, she explained, and decided to test her luck.
“I enjoy entering sweepstakes and giveaways, but I never expect to win anything,” she said. “It is so cool that I was lucky enough to win this one. We’re planning a honeymoon trip, and I’m excited that we’ll be able to use the cooler, backpack, and binoculars. My husband, however, is really looking forward to trying out the walking stick.”
