Nashville, TN—The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and a team of union volunteers will hold four Take Kids Fishing Day events this summer, three of which will be held during National Fishing and Boating Week on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9.
With more than 40 million anglers generating $35 billion in retail sales and $600 million for fisheries conservation and water access improvements through special excise taxes each year, it’s critical to continue recruiting new anglers. These free events will help promote the importance of educating a future generation of American anglers from various communities and backgrounds.
Both the Nevada and Wisconsin events are open to the public, while the Illinois and Ohio events will focus on providing access to children with varying physical and mental disabilities. Thanks to the American Sports Fishing Association and Zebco, nearly 200 fishing combination sets will be available for use at the USA’s events.
Take Kids Fishing Day Events include:
June 8: Crab Orchard Public Lake, Carbondale, Illinois
Co-Sponsored by Laborers Local 773 and 1197
June 9: Pettibone Lagoon, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Co-Sponsored by the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO (details)
June 9: Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, Munson, Ohio
