WASHINGTON- Thanks to a new partnership between the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and General Motors, one lucky USA member will drive home a brand-new 2009 Chevy Silverado, while all hunters and anglers will benefit from additional support for conservation and sportsmen’s access.
This giveaway is the latest in a series of ongoing promotions from the USA, a hunting and fishing club of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and its AFL-CIO union partners exclusively for union members, retirees and their families. While connecting union hunters and anglers across North America, the USA extends union member benefits to the woods and water. Benefits include valuable hunting and fishing information, discounts on outdoor gear, and chances to win special prizes.
All USA members who are residents of the United States and at least 18 years of age on June 30, 2009 are automatically entered in the drawing, which will take place on or about July 2, 2009. Union members can join the USA online at www.UnionSportsmen.org or toll free at 877-872-2211, for an annual fee of $25.
A long-standing advocate for conservation, Chevrolet recently added the TRCP and USA to its list of partner organizations, which includes TRCP partners Quail Unlimited and Quality Deer Management Association, among others.
“In working with all of our outdoor partners, one of the common concerns we hear is that it’s getting harder and harder to find a place to hunt and fish,” said Kevin Messmer, Chevrolet Assistant Regional Marketing Manager. “Our interest in the TRCP began with its mission to guarantee all Americans a place to hunt and fish, and we’ve been working with the TRCP over the last year to find ways to bring information about public access to the consumer.”
As part of that joint venture, in November 2008 Chevrolet launched a new website dedicated to access, www.AccessTheOutdoors.com, that showcases public access points for hunting and fishing and also provides articles, photos and other valuable information.
According to Messmer, Chevrolet supports hunting, fishing and conservation groups and initiative because “we feel that our partner groups represent the folks who need a truck for their lifestyle. It’s how they live, how they work and how they play.”
“Our interest is providing products that fit the needs of people who are involved in the outdoors…and taking care of the environment where they engage in their sport,” said Tom Gilbert, Chevrolet Regional Marketing Manager. “We continue to work on technologies that will improve fuel economy and increase mileage while still providing the power that outdoor enthusiasts need. The USA brings together union members who appreciate the quality of products made in the U.S. and share Chevy’s passion for preserving the traditions of hunting and fishing, and we feel fortunate to be part of that effort.”
“In these tough economic times, we are honored that Chevrolet recognizes the importance of preserving our national resources and has stepped up to support the TRCP conservation mission and its union-dedicated hunting and fishing club,” said Fred Myers, USA Executive Director. “Through this partnership, we can educate sportsmen about access opportunities around the country, while enhancing the value of USA membership. We are proud to call Chevy the official truck of the USA.”
