Bradley Richmond, a member of Operating Engineers Local 150, recently joined our Brotherhood Outdoors crew as our special guest on a Florida tarpon fishing adventure. He was a quiet, humble guy, even while reeling in a big fish. But get him talking about the Rock River Catfishing Tournament that he has organized for the last four years, and he has a lot to say.
While catching catfish anytime is a great time, it’s made even more special when you’re doing it to help ease the suffering of children afflicted by cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The Rock River Catfishing Tournament is an annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which has a mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.
The 4th Annual Rock River Catfishing Tournament will be held in downtown Rockton, IL, this year on September 14, 2013 from midnight-noon. The event is sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and Q98.5 radio out of Rockford, IL.
Prizes will be awarded for the largest catfish and largest stringer of three catfish, and there will be tons of raffle prizes. The Tournament welcomes your participation through a monetary donation or a gift for the raffle. St. Jude helps thousands of families every year face the unfathomable.
