USA Welcomes HuntStand as Its Official Hunting App
The world’s most widely used hunting app is the official hunting and land management app of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA)—and that’s good news for any USA members who want to gain a better understanding of their property or hunting area.
The HuntStand Pro app provides users with nationwide property ownership information, multiple satellite base layers, detailed weather information, and advanced map creation, sharing, and printing capabilities. Users can even view their hunt areas in 3D to better understand the topography. Hunting in the backcountry or remote areas with minimal or no cell phone coverage is not a problem with the app’s full offline capabilities.
USA CEO and Executive Director Scott Vance is among several USA staff who use the app regularly. “I was turkey hunting on a friend’s private property that I was unfamiliar with, and the HuntStand app allowed me to quickly locate the property lines,” Vance said. “The owner and other hunters had been hunting the fields on the property hard, so I decided to go deep in the woods where nobody else had been. With the app, I knew my exact location the entire hunt, and I harvested a nice gobbler.”
Users can create vivid and detailed maps of a hunting area with markers for treestands, blinds, feeders, and other features as well as shapes to distinguish food plots, boundaries, and water. They can measure the area of any shape to determine how much seed is needed for a food plot or measure the distance between points to determine the length of a shot. Hunters can also use the app to track sightings and harvests.
USA Shootings Program Manager Chris Piltz along with his brother Ryan and their father manage 180 acres in middle Tennessee. They use the HuntStand app to mark trail cameras, treestands, food plots, trails, and much more.
“It’s a huge benefit when you have multiple people managing a piece of property,” Piltz said. “So, if I move a treestand, I can mark the exact location. My dad is directionally incompetent, but he can open the HuntStand app and follow it right to the stand.”
